OXFORD CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB SITE
(The work to the railway line should have been finished now but I've left it in my review to highlight the lack of thought in not advising customers as to the major works on-going at the time)
So much wrong here that it's hard to know where to begin!
Yes the toilet block is well past its sell by date and not of the standard expected and a CCC site but there are so many other things that are wrong too.
On the first day here we nicknamed it Tellytubby land due to the unevenness of the site. I'm talking mountains not molehills!!!
No site map was given at check-in and there was no pointing out of the fresh water points nor were we even told the checking out time!!! It was all very hap-hazard, We had requested a quiet pitch as my wife is 4 months pregnant and we just wanted a quiet relaxing holiday. I knew at the point of booking that there was a railway line very close and was quite okay with that. I was told that there was no such thing as a "quiet pitch" on this site!!!! Not the start you want to your holiday.
We were placed with our backs to the ablution block with bins and the chemical and grey waste dump right behind us. This was a total nightmare as there are no restrictions to the times where these facilities can be used (as you find in the majority of good sites). Inconsiderate campers were therefore emptying chemical toilets and grey waste as early as 6:30am!!! this is no joke. The site staff also find it acceptable to slam bin lids on the floor at 7:30am on Sunday mornings! The ablutions block is lit all the way around (under the roof canopy), this light is on ALL night. It does not dim and does not go out after a certain time to allow campers to sleep in relative darkness. Our tent was lit up all night as if it were day time.
The biggest issue we had was that the railway line IS being updated and there are a lot of heavy plant machinery just the other side of the campsite boundary hedge. This work starts at approx 7am and goes on until 7pm every day. The noise is intolerable and makes staying on the site impossible, especially if like us you are in a tent with only a very thin layer of fabric between you and the outside world!!! CCC were fully aware of this work as was the site (obviously) but neither thought it courteous to advise the campers before their arrival. We had no opportunity to cancel bookings or transfer to a different site. We weren't even told on arrival....you just found out by experiencing it. This was disgusting and unforgivable.
We stayed off the site for all 4 days, at great cost to us as we weren't able to prepare food ourselves and had to eat out every day. If you return to the site after 11pm the barrier is locked, which is what you expect at a CCC site, however no off site parking is provided and you are discouraged from parking at Go Outdoors but are told to pay to park in the park and ride across the road. We parked in the Go Outdoors and were ready to argue the case if they became uppity about it!. Nothing was said.
This site needs work. not only in the toilet block where there isn't even a soap dispenser to allow you to wash your hands after using the toilet! but the thought that goes into the day to day working of the site needs to be re assessed.
Put signs up prohibiting the use of certain areas after it gets dark.
Fit motion activated lights so campers can at least have some peace from the blaring lights.
Do not give out pitches to tents that back them onto the noisiest part of the site.
Train staff to be mindful of sleeping campers, especially those in tents!
Give out site maps or at least make campers aware of the water points and Fire muster points (I believe this is a legal requirement !)
Will I return?.....NO....NEVER Would I recommend?....NO.....NEVER
The issues were so bad at this park that the CCC have issued me with a full refund for our 4 night stay & £60 in compensation. Now that's not something that is done on a whim.
Room Tip: There really is no quiet pitch on this site. See more room tips Stayed September 2016, travelled as a couple

HEREFORD CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB SITE
We visited here to basically have a "do nothing" holiday and we weren't disappointed.
On arrival we were given our choice of pitches and pitching up was no issues as the ground took pegs easily. The grass pitches were not exactly level and even tho we picked what appeared to be the best we still found ourselves with a slight dip to the back of the tent.
The facilities were very clean and in excellent condition.
There is a large fishing lake located on the site and this made a lovely walk at any time of the day but especially in the evening.
The site shop has very short opening hours which we did find a slight inconvenience as we were just staying on site for the whole time we visited.
We did have a slight issue with noise due to the over zealous young man on the sit on lawn mower who insisted on cutting the grass every day every few hours!!!! And also from caravaning guests who just don't grasp the difference between the noise reducing properties of a caravan compared to a tent!!!
We would most definitely re-visit this site and would recommend it to others

TEVERSAL CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB SITE
Had a 5 night stay here in our trusted tent.
Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff who met us and we were given our choice of pitch. The grass was perfect, not at all hard. There was plenty of room for our dog to be tethered outside the tent without her bothering anyone.
We had a great pitch right next to the washing facilities and bathrooms.
The bathrooms at this site have to been seen to be believed. The underfloor heating is truly luxurious and greatly appreciated.
The site is perfectly situated as a base to travel to local visitor attractions and even the larger towns such as Nottingham and Sheffield.
We will definitely be visiting this site again in the future.
