Lythe Caravan and Camping Park, Whitby, North Yorkshire. Lovely little site offering excellent facilities close to Sandsend and Whitby. Pitches with EHU a good size. Laundry room and veg and washing up area. Showers and toilets always clean with plenty of hot water. Great location for Whitby and surrounding areas. We will be returning. www.lythecc.co.uk/

SHERIFF HUTTON CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB SITE
Just a few niggles that are worth knowing about.
But first we'll start with the positives.
We're now in our third year of membership of the Camping & Caravanning Club and this is the 4th club site that we've visited. We had a lovely warm welcome and were personally shown to our pitch and even told which direction to pitch to make the most of the sun.
We'd booked a grass pitch with electricity and were able to pitch up with no fuss. The ground was soft enough to hammer in pegs with no effort. The water point was close by as were the bathrooms and dish washing facilities.
The site was well kept and very clean, as you would expect from a C&C club site.
There were however a few niggles....
1. The site is quite small and you did get the feeling that you were a bit on top of each other. Tents were placed in the middle of the center grass area and I'm sure it would become difficult to get your car to and from your tent when the site is full.
2. This might not be an issue to many but it's worth knowing about. The showers are not adjustable. The temperature of the water was hot (and I know this is a luxury) however if you had a small child it was scalding, or as in our situation where my wife was pregnant and should not have very hot showers it posed a big problem. Also, the gentlemen using their showers are expected to "mop-up" the stall after use!!
3. The site is situated on a very long, straight road and is an obvious favourite with the local boy racers. The loud exhaust noise was very disturbing and we were ever so grateful that it was quiet by about 11pm. When our little one arrives this will be a site we will not be returning to as that level of noise would have startled a young child.
We did have a few disgusted looks and stares from other site users and the only reason we could imagine for this was that we were two women who were clearly in a relationship (married), one of us was pregnant and we had a teenage boy (my brother-in-law) with us. Luckily we're able to laugh these things off and put it down to what it really is....ignorance.
So, all in all its a lovely site with just the odd things that we found to be an inconvenience and feel worth warning others about.
Stayed July 2016, travelled with family
